I'm starting to get quite annoyed with all the space coverage going on.
I'm watching the History channel and it's all moon landing and space exploration stuff. Dr. Neil Tyson is there talking about it too. And it's the same on the Discovery channel. Well that's two of my favourite channels commandeered.
It's the 40th aniversary, we're going back, we're exploring space blah, blah... Enough talk!
Why aren't we all in orbital habitats already? It's really a sad sort of thing that Gerard K. O'Neill didn't live long enough for his dream of orbital space stations (called O'Neill cylinders in his name) out there at least under construction.
In his vision, there would have been habitats in orbit by the mid 90's. But sadly, he passed away in '92 from leukemia. The tragedy isn't just his death, but the fact he didn't see his dream come true either.
Well, enough banter and dreaming. Let's go into space now! Let's do it for our future. Let's do it for our children's future.
Let's do it for Gerard!
